27 September 2001 CC Minutes Present: C.W. de Jager, R. Michaels, D.W.Higinbotham, A. Sarty, E. Voutier ---------------------------------------------------------- Overview of the Status of the Hall (Kees de Jager) o Finished A1n and g2n with the goals of the experiment met. Preliminary results should be available soon. o Half of the a recent spin dance was completed after these experiments. Measurements by the Mott, Hall A Moller, and Compton were completed. There was no time to do the measurements with the other Hall's Moller polarimeters. o The next experiment in the Hall, which will start in mid Oct., will be the 16O(e,e'p) experiment. The Ring Imaging CHerenkov detector will be allows there will be dedicated time for test the RICH before the Thanksgiving shutdown. o After thanksgiving, the Real Compton Scattering experiment will be installed in the Hall. This will be a major installation for the Hall and will require the entire month of December. The RCS experiment will run in January and February of 2002. o In approximately late February the measurement of the proton electric form factor with super-Rosenbluth separation will be run. o In March/April the septum magnet will be installed in the Hall. The first experiment to be run with the septum will be the hyper-nucleon experiment followed by the small angle GDH measurement. o The tentative schedule for the rest of 2002, is to run the 4He elastic measurement and the deuteron photodisintegration experiments. o The very tentative schedule for the start of 2003 is to run the Hall A parity experiments followed by DVCS. Other Items Mentioned by Kees: o 12 GeV is asking DOE for critical decision 0 so that we can continue the process for requesting funding for the upgrade. o A recent science and technology review rated the lab's research program as outstanding. o Welcomed Douglas as the newest member of the Hall A staff. ---------------------------------------------------------- Hall A Status Report (Adam Sarty) o First call for reports has already been sent out. o Along with reports on experiments, the following optics reports will be requested: optics, beam energy, polarimeters, RCS detector, polarized 3He target, cryotarget, deadtime, software, slow controls, BigBite spectrometer, Septum magnet, and the Ring Imaging CHerenkov. o Goal is to be done by January. ----------------------------------------------------------- Next Collaboration Meeting (Adam Sarty) o The next collaboration meeting will be Dec. 13 and 14. o There will also be an analysis workshop which will be on Dec. 11 and 12. The workshop is being organized by Bob Michaels along with Ed Brash, Ole Hansen, and Douglas Higinbotham. ----------------------------------------------------------- Next Program Advisory Committee (PAC21) o The PAC21 deadline will be December 3rd. We will be announcing shortly the Hall A deadline for a proposal to be a collaboration proposal. o PAC21 will meet the week of January 14th. ----------------------------------------------------------- April DNP Meeting (Adam Sarty) o The Hall A CC would like to see three invited Hall A talks at the next DNP meeting. These should be on the A1n and g2n results, the N->Delta results, and the proton form factor results. ----------------------------------------------------------- Collaboration List (Douglas Higinbotham) o The collaboration list has been reviewed and it was found a number of list Hall A members are no longer active in the Hall. The list of inactive members will be reviewed by Kees for accuracy and inactive members will be asked if they wish to continue on as a collaboration member. o It was also pointed that a number of active participants in the Hall are not officially members of the collaboration and should be voted on for membership at the next collaboration meeting. -----------------------------------------------------------
