26 April 2002 Hall A CC Meeting Minutes Present: Adam Sarty (Chair), Douglas Higinbotham (Secretary), Kees de Jager, Bob Micheals, Eric Voutier Overview of the Schedule: o The tentative JLab beam schedule thru June 2003 is now posted on the web. There will be an open discussion of the schedule on May 22 at 2pm in room B207. http://www.jlab.org/exp_prog/experiment_schedule/ There are two issues which are driving the schedule. The first is the arrival of the septum magnets. If the arrival of the magnets is significantly delayed, the schedule will need to be changed; but if there are only small (less than 2 months) delays we will stick with the present schedule. o The second issue is that, due to scheduling constraints, the present schedule requires three calendar months more than originally anticipated. Collaboration Documents: o There has been a problem that people are typing in different text when referencing the Hall A Collaboration in abstracts and conference contributions. This unfortunately means that in the reference section, the Hall A abstracts get scattered instead of being placed together. o The Hall A CC requests that following text be used: "For the Jefferson Lab Hall A Collaboration", to be inserted as an LaTeX \author when possible. 12 GeV Upgrade: o Jian-Ping has been organizing the collaboration to prepare the Hall A part of the 12GeV upgrade Conceptual Design Report (CDR). First draft documents are due by May 6th and there will be a workshop on May 13th where the first draft CDR will be discussed. o The next Jefferson Lab User Group workshop will be devoted to the Jefferson Lab CDR. This will be a three day meeting, June 10-12. [The Hall A meeting will be immediately following on June 13 & 14.] The User Group meeting will focus on the upgrade with the second day for the Halls to have parallel sessions to discuss their section of the CDR, while on the last day the Halls will report their 12GeV physics and equipment plans. Hall A CC Nominations: o There are two positions opening on the Hall A CC and the following people have been nominated to fill the positions: David Armstrong (College of William & Mary) David Lhuillier (Dapnia/SPhN, Saclay) Werner Boeglin (Florida International University) Kathy McCormick (Rutgers University) o You can vote by going to http://hallaweb.jlab.org/general/vote.html Upcoming PAC: o The next Jefferson Lab PAC will be the week of July 8th. o The PAC deadline for submission is May 27th. o The Hall A CC deadline for consideration to be a collaboration proposal is Monday, MAY 6 at 5:00pm. Collaboration Meeting: o The next Hall A meeting will be on June 13 & 14. We plan to follow the same general format as the last meeting. The basic order will be business, experiments, equipment, and last new proposals with a borrel at the end of the first day. Other items: o Thanks to a coordinated effort on behalf of the CC to get nominations for APS/DNP invited talks submitted that reflect recent highlights of Hall A experiments, there will be 3 invited talks on Hall A physics at the Fall DNP Meeting.
