Dear friends of ESPACE,

version 2.9.2. of ESPACE is available. This version contains several
relatively small but important changes with respect to version 2.9.1:

- ***PLEASE READ***: The file format of all HBOOK output files was changed.

The most visible change is that the record length was increased from
1024 to 4096. In addition, the allocation quota was increased from
32000 to 65000, and the files are now written in the "new" RZ format,
which does not have a limit of 64k records. Due to these changes,
the maximum size of an output HBOOK file has increased from 125MB
to 1GB. (One can further increase the file size limit to 2GB if
desired but increasing the record length further to 8192 or similar.)

Thus, it is now possible to write very large output ntuples.

***VERY IMPORTANT***: If you use PAW, please use the following command
  to open the new files:

  hi/fil 1 file.hbook 0 x

(note the "0" and the "x"). The "0" tells PAW to determine the
record length automatically. If you omit this parameter, you
  will get "error opening file".

If you use the PAW++ browser to open your files, you should not
  have to do anything special.

- Ntuples are now written in column-wise format instead of row-wise format.
This allows much more efficient processing of large ntuples.

- Dots are replaced by underscores for all variables put into ntuples.
  For example, spec_e.s1.adc_l_c becomes spec_e_s1_adc_l_c.
Dots in variable names made it very difficult to process ntuples with PAW.

- BPM and raster routines contain Bodo's improvements (e.g. additional
methods to fit amplitudes and phases).

- Support for the RICH has been added to some DAQ routines.

Only a few of Jeff Templon's extensive bugfixes have been included.
Most of his changes will probably appear in version 2.9.3.
