SRC -singles rates

Expected singles rates :

For 10 microAmp beam on a 1mm normal C target :

BigBite : 0.35 +/- 0.05 Mhz for the full plane.

n-array : PM in the 1st plane : 25+/- 5 Khz. for the whole 1st plane : 0.75 Mhz.

(for 10 MeVee treshold)

Goal

Choose beam current to give (with the tilted C target) an avrage singles rate of about 150 Khz for a typical front PM in the n-array.

We expect this current to be 50-100 microAmp and the

Nucleon Luminosity = 4-8 10^37 cm-2 sec-1

We will do the signal/background study with deuteron abd then measurements with this nucleon luminosity.

Procedure

5-10 micro-amp beam.

  1. With the normal C target, record rates on all BB (E, dE, and Aux PM's) .

  2. With the normal C target, record all rates for the n-array.

  3. Use 4 cm LD2 target to check scaling with N-luminosity.

  4. Use C tilted target to check scaling with N-luminosity

    ( 1/sin(20deg) = 3).
