How to Remotely Power Cycle DAQ Crates

There are seven crates that can be remotely power-cycled using the “hareboot” web-pages.

1. To power cycle a crate, click the on link for the associated PDU server (harebootXX). You'll be prompted for a username and password. They are posted in the counting house and are the same for all PDUs.

You should see a screen similar to this:

2. Click on the "Apply to" checkbox for the crate(s) you need to reboot ("bbvme1" in the example shown).

3. Select "Reboot Immediate" from the "Select Control Action:" pop-up menu.

4. Click on the "Next >>" button at the bottom of the screen.

5. Click on "Apply" to begin the power-cycle on the confirmation screen.

6. Monitor the reboot by watching the serial console for the associated ROC. These consoles are xterms running on the RunControl computer with names like "bbvme1-ROC23--genps2--port-7".
