Gen Software/Simulation Meeting. Wednesday, Feb. 11; 10:00am - 11:00am attendees: R.Feuerbach,O.Gayou,O.Hansen,B.Reitz,A.Semenov,B.Wojtsekhowski 0.) introduction BR: goal if this subgroup of the Hall A Gen collaboration is to develop software tools to - simulate the experiment (subsystems as well as the whole) - analyze the experiment one main idea is to use the Hall A C++/root analyzer, for both: analyzing the results from simulations and from real data. 1.) status of simulations BR: got Geant 3 based MC for the BigBite from Eugene Chudakov, which includes: Shower/Preshower/Scintillators, DC, BigBite Magnet, and Target Cell. plans to test and get familiar with this package AS: shows the MCeep based "physics event generator" a sample hbook file has been generated points out, that the mean value of the electron momenta is usually below the central value given in the proposal, whereas the mean value of the neutron momenta is the same or slightly higher. shows the status of the MC simulation for the GEn neutron detector setup. Neutron bar geometry is implemented as in D.Waldman's drawings. For final version, the drawings for the veto detector setup are needed (expected to be available in two weeks). BW provided some informations for the veto for now. discussion of next tasks: - defining interface/output of the monte carlos (between BR and AS) - new "decoder" for the root analyzer is needed, to read in the output of the simulations. (BR, RF, and OG are interested and will look into it) - OH points out the importance of a careful digitization of the simulated data 2.) Analysis Software BR: reports, that a DAQ system for testing the drift chambers is about to be set-up at UVA. His highest priority is now, to set-up the software for it as well. He will take care of (with the help of OH): Coda-Readoutlist, Decoder in the Root-Analyzer, modifying the existing wire chamber classes to get and display the raw single wire data (drift-times, number of hits ...) N.Liyanage et al. will then use it for cosmic tests. N.Liyanage et al. will also work on the tracking code for these chambers OG: will look into the preshower/shower class for the Gen-BigBite detector set-up SRC has already a neutron detector class. The Gen collaboration needs someone to look into this class and adapt it for the Gen setup. (should start soon, to synchronize with AS progress on the neutron detector simulation) 3) Closing - we will continue to have biweekly meetings, but we want to move the time, so that N.Liyanage can join, it was proposed to change it to Thursday afternoon.
