GEn Target Meeting for October 19 Attendance: G. Cates, B. Wojtsekhowski, B. Reitz, A. Kolarkar, A. Kelleher, T. Averett, A. Gavalya (phone) Target Design Update -- Alan ladder -- drawings are with vendor. waiting to hear back from companies before RFQ. optics -- need optic bench mount to magnet, once designed, can get parts in 2 days access -- support structure for optics might get in the way; should have 3 locations for access. Gordon suggested a sort of scaffolding for access to optics for alignment. oven -- replace window with lens for EPR readinesss reveiw design plan -- plan meeting with Alan, Ed Folts, Gordon, Bogdan -magnetic measurement mount -beamline (Alan gave drawing and has questions) 1 months work on beamline support -support for lifitng drive, to include laser system mounts magnetic measurement discussion planned for later. Bogdan and Alan to meet in EEL to look at setup. Bogdan, Ameya, Gordon, and Alan to meet on Tuesday afternoon. UVA Update -- Gordon cells -- "Dexter" tested with more power; @ 235C P=47-48%. @245C (and 5 lasers) P=52%. "Al, the target cell" (best UVa target cell) @235C, 5 lasers P=53%. Of 6 usable UVA cells 3 have demonstrated greater than 50% polarization. noise cancellation tests (at Jlab) -- reduced noie by at least a factor of 30. reduced noise to at least 100mV level. looking at field gradients, reproducibility of fields (for looking at averages). Have been using a new parallel, series probe circuit with Q of new coils of 8. Should see gain 1.5x actual e.m.f. matiching of circuits being done. Plan for next steps -- starting Monday morning (Oct 24), put all efforts into full polarization test. moved lasers into lab, cell is mounted. Question -- cane we keep a Hall probe near the target? John LeRose says that there has been a Hall probe in Q1 for 10 years.
