Minutes of Transversity On-site Weekly Meeting [Mar 06, 2006 (Monday) at CEBAF B101 (9:30-10:00 am)] Attendee:Xiaodong Jiang, Xiaofeng Zhu, Xin Qian, Doug Higinbotham Minutes written by Lingyan Zhu ***Xiaodong Jiang*** 1.Hall A floor plan for transversity and d2n experiment with Al Gavalya. (tech note http://www.jlab.org/~jiang/pac29/transn/tech_issue/floor_plan/) A. Transversity and d2 can run together with compatible BigBite and left HRS position (Transversity -30/16; d2n -45/45). Right HRS at 105 deg, same as Gen and the He3 target will be mounted with one pair of coils oriented at 36.5 deg. On the other hand, (e,e'd) and A_y experiment require the right HRS to be at forward angle and some other changes. B. The BigBite may interference with the beam line. Xiaodong will work on that. C. inclined to agree with Jian-ping not to polarized he3 target 45 deg out-of-plane though Xin presented some advantages of data at this angle. It will cost about a day for the laser alignment. We will then polarized the target vertically and in-plane transversely. 2.GOOD NEWS: The condition on the transversity experiment was removed and the beam time request has been submitted. Condition: both groups form a single collaboration and present the laboratory a detailed plan of joint measurements of asymmetries with both positive and negative pions. ***Xiaofeng Zhu*** work on the He3 target. ***Xin Qian*** 1. BigBite background simulation for Gen production runs. During Gen, the plastic/wood end shielding of the 1st drift chamber from line of sight of the downstream beam pipe greatly lower the singles rate in the 1st drift chamber. Similar but better plastic/wood shielding can be designed for transversity experiment. 2. suggested by Xiaodong to analyze some Gen carbon foil and hydrogen data and get familiar with Gen online tools. ***Doug Higinbotham*** TDC troubles for the wire chambers of the BigBite: The original VME TDCs that were used in the test lab were replaced with the FASTBUS crates of the left HRS due to the TDC errors with beam. He will work with Brad on it. Hopefully to have a beam test on the original VME TDCs and sort out the problem. ***Others*** Jen-Chieh Peng will come to JLab around middle march and work on the vertical coil design.
