Summary
The shift started with no beam since the previous shift was just
finishing the back out from the Moller measurements. MCC then called to
say that they couldn't deliver beam to the hall because the Moller target
was in, but after an investigation, it was found that the Moller target
was out, and that the real problem was that the IOC associated with this
FSD had to be rebooted. We then did the dilution runs we needed for this
setting, and started production running. After a few hours of production
running, both septa tripped off. Dustin and Jessie went down into the
hall to investigate the trip and found that the water line for the big
bite power supply ruptured which dumped water all over the place before
they got the valves turned off. Ed arrived and headed down, and the
clean up commenced.

Timeline
- 16:00 - Shift starts with no beam at the end of the backout of the
Moller setup.
- 16:10 - MCC calls and says they cannot deliver beam because our
Moller target is in. We verify that the target is out with the very dim
camera. After a 40 minutes of trouble shooting, we aks that they reboot
the IOC for this FSD, and the problem clears up.
- 17:00 - Beam back in the hall. We adjust the beam positions and do
spot++ checks.
- 17:30 - We start by taking our dilution runs on the carbon target,
the dummy target (cross hairs), and in the home position.
- 18:00 - Setting up for production running, going to ammonia target,
and polarizing it.
- 18:45 - We are having a little trouble: the target won't polarize
above 70%, which is a little borderline. We decide to go forward and
take a run while Dustin talks to James.
- 19:01 - Changing to the top ammonia cup; starting to polarize it.
- 19:20 - We have 50 nA and are resuming production running on the top
cup, which has a polarization of about 77.5%.
- 20:06 - MCC is taking the beam away to walk up a cavity that is
giving them trouble. It should only be a few minutes. We'll stop this
run and start a new one when the beam is back.
- 20:15 - Beam is back! Starting another run... (5656 and 24374)
- 20:22 - Fast raster reduced to 1.5 mm by 1.5 mm by Pengjia's request
because he says things are saturating.
- 21:15 - Septa have both tripped. Calling the tech on call, and
calling MCC to make an access.
- 22:27 - Dustin and Jessie went down into the hall to investigate the
cause of the trip. The water line for the big bite power supply
ruptured, and there is water all over the floor of the hall. The valves
have been turned off. Ed is on his way in.
- 22:45 - Ed arrives and went down into the hall. They are all
cleaning up the water.
- 24:00 - Still down, trying to dry out the hall and assess the
damage.
Notes for the next shift:
- If MCC cannot deliver beam due to an FSD on the Moller target when
you know the target is out, ask them to reboot the IOC.
- Flip ihwp about halfway through each point.
- Do a dilution run for each point
- Do 2/3 with the right arm before moving to the next point.
- Keep an eye on the beam current so it doesn't drift down to 40 nA.
