While trying to get ready for beam the target picture went away, again. We ramped the magnets down and went up to take a look. I noticed the display on the handheld monitor was rotated depending on how I held it. We looked at the monitor for the target camera, and lo, the picture was back. Yea, verily I say unto thee, the vidicon is an electron tube and does not function as designed when placed in too high of a magnetic field. As proof of the truth of my words, ramp the magnets up and down while viewing the results on the monitor. Yet do not despair, for we are prepared with all kinds of partially irradiated CCD cameras. I dismantled the shielding for the camera and replaced it with the best CCD I could find in the drawer. The camera is mounted to give an upright image. The target is a reflection. I do not know if it is one reflection or two. Up, down, beam right, and beam left will need to be determined by moving the spot and looking at the monitor. Sorry, folks, that is the best I can do for now.
