Meeting held at JLAb in room 16/84 from 10am to 12am with:
Hakob, Bogdan, Alan, David, Ashot, Sam and Franck

    Report

    • RTV cookie/mold: I've made the drawing for the 25-block prototype. I am going to order the mold in lucite for the end of the week. Since it's in lucide, we'll be able to put the PMT on top of the drying cookie and check if there are any air bubbles. We will probably have the mold by the middle of next week.
      •
    • Pb-glass radiation damage: We will remove the test blocks on tuesday next week (maintenance day) and measure the transmission again. We will have a result at the next meeting.

    •
    • Cooling system: Bogdan will investigate a 25-block cooling system to test the concept of a fan, a manifold and 25 hoses.

    •
    • JLab account for PMT bases: Alan is currently working on setting up an account at JLab to be able to order the small parts needed for the PMT bases (for a total of $63000). I've taken responsability to order them and make sure they arrive on time for the summer. I will start as soon as we got the account setup.

    •
    • August shift request : Alan gave a letter to Kees. He asked him for 2 shifts in August to test the 25-block prototype.

    •
    • Gain monitoring system : There have been extensive discussions about the gain monitoring systems we will use in the compton experiment  (in collaboration with the pi0 experiment). A monitoring system with a laser has been discussed. The only issue is that the laser might require a lot of maintenance. We also discussed the same system with bright LEDs. The issue is then the light mixer and the number of photons per optical fiber we need (around 1000 to simulate a 1 GeV photon), which is much more critical in the case of LEDs than with a laser. Also the cost is much less in the LED case. There will be further investigations anyway.
