    Report

    • Meeting schedule: New schedule is now on tuesdays from 10 to 12am. By default, the trailer city conference room is where we meet, though I have to schedule it from Marty Bennet. I will let you informed.

    •
    • Illinois account:  The $60,000 never made it to the account. Only about $27,600 are left on it. The finance department is looking into the problem.

    •
    • Connectors:  We almost settled to get LEMOs for signal cables. Eugene reported that Jack has investigated for HV connectors and has something. We'll try to get him to report on that at the next meeting.

    •
    • Optical coupling:  The optical coupling seems essential: Albert found a factor 1.5 to 1.7 comparing with an air gap. Some tests of optical grease at 50 degree celsius during 2 days show no sign of leakage. The same test will be performed at 70 degrees during 4 days to make sure it really doesn't leak. If the optical grease method is chosen, we have to get ready to "recut" the long aluminum tubes.

    •
    • Temperature measurement in the base:  Albert has measured the temperature inside the base for an "outside layer" base. It was 42 degree Celsius. The room temperature was 21 degrees., so that's a 21 degree rise.

    •
    • Glass thermal expansion:  Albert has measured the real thermal expansion coefficient for Pb-glass: about 8.8. Close to the theoretical value for glass. Titanium is 9.8 by comparison.
