Meeting held at JLab in room 16/84 from 10am to 11:30am with:
Ting, Albert, Armen, Bogdan, Charles, Jeff and Franck

    Report

    • More money from NSF:  Ting pointed out that we needed to make a list of things to be purchased since Alan is going to ask for more money from the NSF. We worked on that during this meeting so we can get the list to Alan by the end of the week. The cables and connectors are not part of the list, they will be purchased through JLab/Hall A.

    •
    • Cables/connectors for base:  Eugene was not here but we heard he had samples of HV and signal cables/connectors. Jeffrey planned to see the samples with Eugene and we have to take a decision next week. Those cables and connectors are actually useful for us to check if the bases' circuit board work properly.

    •
    • Optical grease leakage test:  Albert has done another measurement to check possible leaks of the optical grease. 4 days at 70 degrees seem okay. The bottomline of this is that if enough pressure is applied between the PMT and the glass, the grease won't leak whatsoever.

    •
    • Spring:  It seems the optical grease is the right solution after all. Now we chose the length of the aluminum tube thinking of a cookie (definitely thicker than the optical grease layer). So, either we cut the tubes a little more, which is probably a lot of work, or we choose a longer spring that can accomodate for that difference. We have to take a decision and order the springs soon.

    •
    • Anodizing: Jeffrey has shown us the result of the tube anodizing. It is very clean, though a little shiny, but definitely better than painting. Albert will make a few tests, to see if everything fits together and will report next week. The cost is about $4 by base, which is minor, and improves the bases, optically-speaking.

    •
    • Circuit Boards:  The people at ODU are slowing down due to school. They have soldered a little less than 300 circuit boards.
