Abstract for JLab Technical Note 98-028 
In this note we study the production amount of  -electrons due to pion knock-on in the different detectors of the Hall A electron High Resolution Spectrometer (HRS). We detail the computation method and the inputs used. The main result is that the aerogel Cerenkov counter provides almost 40% of the total production of  -electrons.
