Minutes: SBS Meeting November 7, 2012

1)	Kondo Gnanvo reports on GEM electronics studies at UVa

i)	2 different systems used
(1)	CERN RD51 (SRS)
(2)	INFN developed multi-purpose digitizer (MPD)
ii)	Lists hardware differences between each
iii)	SRS linear at low end but starts to saturate, while MPD is linear over the full measured range
(1)	MPD is optimized for higher injected charge
(2)	Get no signal in MPD at low end, not sure why
iv)	Hot channels seem to come from the APV card (not chamber or connectors). Will repeat 
with new cards.
b)	Evaristo Cisbani comments
i)	Obtained the same data in Italy
ii)	He has questions re gain estimation. He gets different numbers.
iii)	Working on understanding the impact of MPD vs. SRS. He still has tests to do.
c)	Nilanga Liyanage comments
i)	Paolo (INFN) is studying the differences between MPD and SRS
ii)	Studies continue at UVa. Expect more results by December 5.
iii)	Evaristo says he’ll need a little more time
iv)	Hope to resolve this in December.
