Minutes: SBS Meeting May 15, 2013 Attendees: John LeRose, Alexandre Camsonne, Bogdan Wojtsekhowski, Nilanga Liyanage, Brian Quinn, Adam Sarty, Kondo Gnanvo, Evaristo Cisbani, Mitra Hashemi Shabestari, Carlos Ayerbe Gayoso, John Annand, Doug Higinbotham, Sergey Abrahamyan, Gordon Cates 1) Evaristo Cisbani gives the status of the front tracker GEM’s. (See link) a) Test at DESY i) Explains setup(s) ii) Notes mysterious gain loss, return, and subsequent loss. (1) Not sure why (2) Gas problem maybe (3) Discussed at length iii) Observed noise improvement 2) Kondo Gnanvo gives update on SBS Back Tracker at UVa (See linkpdf or link pptx) a) Cross talk issues with APV25 electronics i) Non-uniformity comes from intrinsic cross talk on APV25 ii) Followed by some discussion of whether or not this is an issue 3) Doug Higinbotham presents a draft collaboration charter (link). All are encouraged to read it and send Doug suggestions, comments, and changes (doug@jlab.org) 4) Bogdan Wojtsekhowski review latest collaboration meeting agenda (link) a) Suggested that Christian Weiss give a talk on theoretical developments with Form Factors instead of the proposed Form Factor overview. Generally agreed this was good. b) The discussion at the end of Friday on students and manpower is moved to just after morning. 5) Gordon Cates discusses the Polarized 3He target in A1n. a) Measured AFP losses agree well with theory b) Exploring geometry with Transversity coils i) Theory predicts large AFP losses ii) Recent measurements with the ProtoVec I cell show smaller losses. (1) Protovec I is a somewhat different geometry than assumed in the theoretical studies (2) We need to establish the limits of the current design c) “We are currently on a path that, on paper, will not work.” –G.C. -JJL
