Minutes: SBS Meeting May 22, 2013

1)	Bogdan Wojtsekhowski reports latest news from Robin on the magnet and steel shipment from 
Brookhaven.
a)	“I spoke to Al Pendzick, BNL, yesterday. Their gamma spectrometer is broken and out for repair 
until end of next week. They must do gamma spectrometer survey of magnet and other steel to 
release for shipping. They estimate shipping mid-June.
b)	Very optimistic that magnet and steel pieces will have good survey results.”
2)	Alexandre Camsonne on Fastbus and VME DAQ status
a)	Fastbus modules inventoried and tested
b)	Fastbus readout with new TI working and Intel CPU: working but not optimized. 
c)	Noticed that one can only readout one event per block transfer, so event blocking is not as 
efficient as expected. Need to evaluate gain with larger number of board.
d)	No progress on APV readout with Intel CPU for now.
e)	Plan :
i)	Mid-June Evaluate event blocking improvement for Fastbus. 
ii)	 Debug Intel CPU APV library code by comparing with CAEN controller data
iii)	June-July Test with two crates - Test Fastbus flipping scheme for GEp
iv)	Mid-July ( or earlier if Test lab and funding available ) Move weldment to Test Lab and setup 
additional crates 
3)	Sergey Abrahamyan reports on FASTBUS Status

b)	Bogdan is concerned re plans for the future. Points out undergraduate manpower will be 
available in June.
c)	Bogdan recommends checking results with Dave Abbott
4)	We review the collaboration meeting agenda
a)	Need to add photograph time
b)	Funding for coffee/refreshments? Alex will check with Stephanie on options.
5)	Bogdan Wojtsekhowski asks about possible submission of abstracts for the DNP meeting in October
a)	Students? Post-Doc’s?
b)	July 1 is deadline
c)	Nilanga and Alex and anyone else who’s interested will write up draft abstracts and circulate 
them to the collaboration. Hopefully, this will inspire others to do the same.
