How to run CODA

• How to run DAQ on LEFT HRS:


1. From a terminal login as "adaq" on adaq1 machine (do "ssh adaq@adaq1" without the quotes)


2. Password is available on the white board
   


3. After login to adaq1, type "startcoda" to bring up the runcontrol GUI
   


4. The default configuration is "LHRSnew", if it is not loaded you can choose it from the menu "configurations->Cool", select "LHRSnew
   


5. Click "Platform->connect"
   


6. Click on "Download" button
   


7. Click on "Start (>>)" button, and acknowledge "start-of-run" pop-up window
   


8. To end a run click on "End" button
   

• How to run DAQ on RIGHT HRS:


1. From a terminal login as "adaq" on adaq2 machine (do "ssh adaq@adaq2" without the quotes)


2. Password is available on the white board


3. After login to adaq2, type "startcoda" to bring up the runcontrol GUI


4. The default configuration is "RHRSnoBuff", if it is not loaded you can choose it from the menu "configurations->Cool", select "RHRSnoBuff"


5. Click "Platform->connect"


6. Click on "Download" button


7. Click on "Start (>>)" button, and acknowledge the "start-of-run" pop-up window


8. To end a run click on "End" button

How to perform online analysis

• Instructions for running online analysis:


1. Login as a-onl on one of the analysis machines (aonl1, aonl2 or aonl3) Eg: "ssh a-onl@aonl2"
   


2. passwords are written on the white board in the counting house
   


3. type "goonlana" - this will take you to the online analysis directory (/adaqfs/home/a-onl/gmp/replay)
   


4. Password is available on the white board
   

• To replay a LHRS run:


1. at the prompt, type ".x replay_L.C(run_number)" (provide run_number you want to replay, for left arm it is < 20000)
   


2. answer any questions, if needed
   


3. exit analyzer by doing ".q"
   

• To replay a RHRS run:


1. at the prompt, type ".x replay_R.C(run_number)" (provide run_number you want to replay, for left arm it is >=20000)
   


2. answer any questions, if needed
   


3. exit analyzer by doing ".q"
   

• How to look at the online histograms?


1. For LHRS, do "onlineLHRS " at the terminal (without < >)
   


2. For RHRS, do "onlineRHRS " at the terminal (without < >)
   

How to open online scaler screen - xscaler

• Raw rates of trigger and detector channels can be accessed using a GUI. Below are the instructions for opening "xscaler" GUI


• These screens are generally already open on the agen5 machine (above the DAQ machine)


• If it is xscaler is not open then follow these instructions:


1. login as a-onl on adaq1 or adaq2 machines (eg: "ssh a-onl@adaq1" )
   


2. passwords are written on the white board
   


3. type "goxscaler" and follow the instructions printed on the screen
   


4. type "./xscaler Left" or "./xscaler Right" to access xscaler display
   


5. Select the "Trig-Cher-S0" tab on the top of the window
   

How to open high voltage GUI

A VNC session of the HV GUI will open. If the VNC server is off, then you can start it by doing "start_hvgui_hrs"
