Physics Motivation: Measurment of the Neutron d₂

    E06-014 will measure σ₀^3He,as well as, the parrallel and perpendicular asymmetries (A_||^3He, A _⊥^3He), inorder to extract the g₂ structure function. The measurments will take place in the deep inelastic quark region with 0.2≤ x ≤0.7 and 2≤ Q² ≤ 6 GeV². The higher twist piece of the spin structure function will then be extracted, allowing for the evaluation of the quantity d₂ⁿ = ∫x²(2g₁ + 3g₂)dx. d₂ⁿ is related to the twist three matrix element which represents the quark-gluon correlations within the nucleon, and connects the response of the electric and magnetic color fields to the polarization of the nucleon.
