5.4.6.6  Safety Assessment

The following potential hazards have been identified.

Power supply and servoamplifier modules. The power supply and servoamplifier modules are located inside locked cabinets. These cabinets can be serviced only by qualified personnel (see list below). Voltages of up to 325 VDC and 230 VAC are present inside the cabinets. Peak currents of up to 150 Amps could be present.

Servomotors. Peak torque of up to 270 lb-in can be delivered by each of the servomotors. Such torque could produce substantial harm to any object caught in their shaft. The servomotor casing could also become very hot.

Spectrometer. Each spectrometer weights 1000 Tons. Consequently, objects caught in its path will be crushed.
