CEBAF's
high intensity, high energy electron beam is a potentially lethal radiation
source and hence many redundant measures aimed at preventing accidental exposure
of personnel to the beam or exposure to beam-associated radiation sources are in
place. When the hall is in a restricted access state, all beamline equipment
requiring machining, and all components which need to be removed from the Hall,
must be surveyed and released by a radiation officer. The radiation
safety group at CEBAF includes the following personnel:
