Commissioning

As detector subsystems are installed, the experiment must request a review of these systems before they may be commissioned. Following the review and any necessary corrections, temporary operating permission via a Temporary Operating Safety Procedure (TOSP) will be granted by the Physics Division for these subsystems. When all subsystems are installed and individually approved to operate, the subsystem permits are combined with additional requirements to justify the final Operating Safety Procedure (OSP). The Physics Division grants approval to commission the experiment with beam when the final OSP documentation is complete.

Note that commissioning of the beamline or accelerator may occur prior to approval of the experiment OSP. For runs in the Physics division experimental area, control of the beamline operation is granted during this phase as follows:

1.
If beamline commissioning is in progress, the Accelerator Operations Group controls the operation of the beamline.
2.
When beamline commissioning is complete and the final OSP is approved, the experiment controls the OSP agreeded upon elements of the beamline.

The operating envelope of theses elements shall not exceed thoses approved in the OSP.
