moller@jlab.org
- Moller detector adjustment was done 09/29/09 - see halog entry
292319 .
The offsets of the linear fanouts for Cal#8 and the sums 1-4 and 5-8, have to be changed to about -10mV.
Before the offsets were positive. The change makes the ADC pedestals visible.
- Bad/noisy shape of a leading adge of MPS signal going from Counting Room to Moller DAQ was found
(see 296017 ).
As the result, Moller DAQ marks as 'bad' a part of good
Moller events and moves it out of analysis reducing statistics. It does not affect measured polarization value
(see 296908 ).
- Noisy MPS signal from Counting House to Moller DAQ is fixed
(see 296869).
- A new Helicity Board was installed on injector
(see POLOG).
MPS, QRT, HEL signals after the Helicity board change are shown in
297039.
- 17 November 2009: IOCHLA was frosen. After many reboots the Moller target contlol comes back.
- HALL A MOLLER ENERGY LOCK: see ELOG
1500996 .
- Old Moller VME crate was plugged into hareboot26, socket 3. The FADC crate is plugged into the same PDU on socket 1
see halog entry 307501 .
- January 8, 2010. The settings of the Helicity Control Board were changed to 240 Hz. This
is the reversal rate requested by PREx.
Also, on Monday January 11th, we are planning on cleaning-up the fibers that distribute the helicity signals to the Halls.
So the signals may disappear for sometime (a few hours). Please check that you still receive the same signals you used to
once the clean-up is finished.
- January 13, 2010. John Segal: I got the IOC installed in the VME crate. The serial port can be reached at
telnet hatsv5 2016 The IOC is still configured as iocps1 and will need to be setup correctly. The cards are installed,
but nothing is connected to them yet. I believe the IOC is connected to the 188 subnet.
- January 19, 2010. The Helicity Fibers clean-up is almost complete. See halog entry 309015 .
- February 09, 2010. Location of Moller magnet screen: NewTools --> EDM (Cryo Main) --> ESR --> Hall A Menu --> Hall A - DB/Matrix --> Hall A Moller
See halog entry 309187 .
- February 11 2010. The MPS signal is slightly unstable when running in 'line-sync' mode. This has not been the case in the past since we normally work in
'free- running' mode. The longer (4.28ms) MPS period occurs at around the 10% level. On the scope, the longer period appears to occur only when the QRT is
logic-LO. I have not investigated to see if there are helicity correlations -- that needs to be done. Folks should check their DAQ and analysis code and
consider whether this will affect their measurements. See halog entry
309209 .
- February 17, 2010. Riad: Tomorrow, Roger will re-program the Helicity Board to address the issue
of the 240 Hz Bean Sync mode.
Details: Right now the length of the first 7 helicity windows is 4,050 us. The 8th window is about 4170 us ± the Beam Sync signal.
Roger will change this now such that all the 8 windows are 4,067 us. The length of the last window will be actually 4.067 ± Beam Sync jitter.
Also the Octet Pattern will be changed to +--+-++- or -++-+--+.
- March 05, 2010. MPS signal shape and delay are fixed. See halog entry 310878 .
- March 15, 2010. Set the Moller MPS signal to 200usec. See halog entry 311722 .
- March 30, 2010. Moller raster for PREX 2.5*4.5 in MCC units (1*1mm2 on the Moller target) See elog entry 1515282 .
- April 2, 2010. Helicity board settings for 120Hz - see elog entry 1516686 .
- April 12, 2010. The 32 channels hodoscope is installed in front of the Moller detector. The connection map for the hodoscope is updated (see here) for April 2010
- April 13, 2010. The current position of the Moller collimator has been checked and it is open on 3.0cm
or 2471 steps from negative limit at the full open colimator range, and 7511 steps from positive limit at closed colimator
(the full open range is 4.0cm or ~10000 steps, see
use a web browser to go to here).
- April 21, 2010. To reboot Moller DAQ Crate (hallavme5) one should to open the page in browser: http://hareboot6
select "Device Manager" tab,
select "Control" from left menu,
select in small box Outlet #8,
select Action "Reboot Immediatly " and
press "Next" button to activate action.
Wait for few minutes while rebooting VME crate.
- April 22, 2010. To view the level of 3He in solenoid using webcam one should to open the page in browser: http://hatsv21
enter username "hlauser", password the same as 'adaq',
select "Single" tab:
upper one - level of big 3He duar;
middle one - level of Moller solenoid duar;
bottom one - level of Nitrogen duar.
- April 27, 2010 To reboot Moller cryo (temperature, SC magnet, gaussmeter etc) :
iocha27 (129.57.188.92) - Moller magnet and cryo controls:
- serial port on "telnet 129.57.188.86 2016" or "telnet hatsv5 2016"
- "hard" reboot(AC power cycle) on hareboot6 outlet 7
- located in the beamline rack 1H75B14
- January 27, 2011. Tilted Moller target alignment. Calculated foil angle is 19.95deg.
- February 8, 2011. Power supply of the third Moller quad has been replased due to noise, see elog entry 1567253 .
S. Wood: test results for Moller quads power supply are in table.
- December 16, 2011. Detector HV instruction from Brad
Got the relevant perl modules installed and everything is running now. I am running it under a screen session as hacuser@hacweb5. You can point the java HV client at hacweb5:5555 and treat it just like a normal LeCroy crate.
I'll have to write up a coherent how-to that describes how the software interacts. There are two components (all in /home/hacuser/LecroyHV_shim/):
LecroyHV_Shim
- This is the 'emulation' layer that accepts telnet connections and presents itself as a standard Lecroy HV serial interface. It communicates with the physical crate through an abstracted 'server_cmd' (basically a socket connection). Among other conveniences, this would allow the (small) low-level 'front-end' software to reside on a single-chip computer that could be stuffed in the Lecroy crate itself. For now, it invokes a local front-end process "LecroyHV_FE/i2lchv_linux_brad" that talks to the serial port ttyS0 on hacweb5 directly.
LecroyHV_FE/i2lchv_linux_brad
- Relatively simple/small "front-end" code that talks directly to the crate through a serial interface.
Be sure to let me know if you run into problems. It is probably simplest if I sit down and show you how to kill/restart the shim software in person. For now though, you can connect using the java client as mentioned above.
