Analysis Progress Update 9/24/2008 Working on problem of background neutrons 1) From last meeting -- I was to expand the q_perp range. Jon suggested higher than .5GeV. Unfortunantely, I saw nothing above .6GeV -- even when combining many runs. q_perp range for single hit quasi-elastic background ratio is now 0.3 to 0.6 GeV. Also, expanded ND fiducial cuts (like last week, but with a larger x range). 2) Looked at neutral/charged ratio for a variety of TOF cut sizes at different times. (cut_location_wide.pdf) 3) Extracted the ratio for neutral/charged in the flat region (-50 to -20 ns) -- 3.5, applied this to the number of events in the out of time region (20-10ns). 4) Result was a background that was 30% of the neutron events. 5) Upon further reflection (thanks Seamus), realized that this cannot be. The goal is to subtract the neutral events that appear in the QE sample. A look at the neutral TOF spectrum sets an upper bound on neutral background at around 15% (neutral_TOF.pdf) 6) suspect the issue is with choosing a TOF region too far from the QE peak. Currently looking for a closer flat region to use for n/c background. Future (next week) 1) finish background n/c 2) nitrogen dilution Longer term 3) proton leakage 4) GEn extraction for kin. 4 Other issues: 1) post revised pion asymmetry 2) post nitrogen cell pressure for Jon (kin 2)
