Procedure for Optics Runs
Optics runs should be taken during commissioning and repeated every few days.
In
production kinematics, insert the multi-foil 12C target and take data
under following conditions. Use maximum currents allowed by the target and the VDC with raster on
and off. Take about 250 k events for each setting. Make sure that VDCs
are on and you are in regular HRS DAQ mode.
- Sieve out, raster off
- Sieve in, raster off
- Sieve out, raster on (use the same size as for production)
- Sieve in, raster on
- I don't know if you need only T1 events (both arms), or also need some other triggers.
- Note: right arm sieve is NOT working. Do sieve IN runs on left runs only!
Note:
maximum current allowed for multi-carbon is 120uA, regardless of the
raster. This should be the same as maximum current allowed for LD2
target production. Of course you don't want to kill the VDCs.
Repeat these steps for single 12C and Ta targets, with sieve IN and OUT with raster OFF.
It would be nice to repeat this every few days during the experiment, when
there is a free opportunity. After the first time only sieve in runs are
needed."
