Notes from Local Meeting on May 6, 2004
In attendance: Bob Michaels, Rob Feuerbach, Tim Holmstrom, Ryan Snyder, Kent Paschke, Hachemi Benaoum, Riad Suleiman, Matt Poelker, Krishna Kumar, Paul Souder, Bryan Moffit, Lisa Kaufman
General Info
- Documents such as the COO and RSAD need to be written for the run. Bob Michaels said he would take responsibility for this.
Source
- The Pockels cell, Sam, is now dead. The faces are fogged probably from water condensation from the humidity change in the laser room while the AC was being fixed.
- We will put Arwen in a N2 bag and store it in the source lab in the EEL building.
- We will build a box to store the Pockels cell used on the table in the laser room in a desiccated environment.
- The laser table in the tunnel has a N2 purge if the AC is lost, so it should be ok without a desiccated box.
- Ryan, Kent, and Lisa will be meeting with the source group Monday in order to talk about the source install.
Compton Polarimeter
- Compton needs to run with fast feedback on. While dithering we'll have fast feedback off.
- Compton will still run during dithering. It will be possible for the Compton
DAQ to record the EPICS variable used to switch FFB off for dithering.
- The new EPICs interface for the Compton DAQ and slow control is
reportedly not yet stable enough, so we'll be using the French system.
Septum
- The right yoke's nominal temperature changed by a little over 0.5 K after a training quench. There is no apparent reason for the change in temperature. The left yoke's temperature did not change.
- It appears possible to install the Pb wall shielding in Hall A, but we have not yet confirmed with Ed.
- Resurveying will be necessary after Pb wall is installed, as the additional
weight may shift the septum alignment.
HAPPEX Shifts
- We will have three people per shift: shift leader, target operator, third shifter.
- The third shifter should preferably have Compton training.
- Sirish or David L. will conduct Compton training.
- J.P. or Kathy will conduct target training.
- Third shifter will be responsible for watching the online monitoring. We will need to make a checklist for this job.
- Anyone taking 5 shifts during HAPPEX running will qualify as authors for both the Helium and Hydrogen measurements.
- A prompt analysis will need to be done at the end of each run, and it should output summary sheets. Rich Holmes will be at the lab during the pentaquark run, and will be able to develop prompt analysis output summaries.
- During the run, we will have meetings M-F at 8:30 am (after the 8 am MCC meetings).
Lumi Analysis
- Hachemi's slides
- Bryan's slides
- The data are suggestive of synchrotron radiation in the horizontal plane - affecting blumi 3 and 7. We would like to take some empty target data to confirm.
- Bryan showed the BCM double difference widths scale with as 1/current - suggests constant noise consistent with pedestal.
- We decided that we only want to blind the detectors, not the lumis during the run. Also, blinding will include a blind offset, but not a blind sign.
- Data taken with the 4 cm Hydrogen cell suggest boiling starting after 20 uA.
