Notes from Local Meeting on Mar. 19, 2004
In attendance: Hachemi Benaoum, Rob Feuerbach,
Lisa Kaufman, Bob Michaels, Bryan Moffit, Kent Paschke,
Ryan Snyder, Riad Suleiman
-
Q2 scanner - UMass group (Reported by Kent from briefing by Ross)
- Installed the Scanner System and checked motion control from PC
in Counting House.
- Components will fit in allocated space with only minor modifications
to PMT housing (to be done at UMass).
- System mounted on rail which is not designed to be fixed in place.
Modifications to this mounting rail to hold it in place will be required.
Alignment/positioning with precision from external fiducials will be difficult;
beam-based position check will be required.
- Installation procedure takes significant time. In order to meet the
goal of only one shift to install, a wiring junction box will be redesigned
to use socket/plug (quick) connectors. Bob will coordinate with JLab technical
staff to connectorize the cables; the connector types and wiring diagram will
be passed to Ross so he can modify the junction box to match. With this
change and with the cables already in place, it should be possible to complete
installation of a scanner in one shift.
- It is desired, for efficiency of installation, that the scanner be
setup in the Right HRS first. This is where the motion control hardware is
located, so this would allow more testing and preparation for the
installation in the second arm, for which time is more critical.
- Mover system and frames have gone back to UMass for modification
to increase stability and more robust cable handling.
-
Bob
-
Lisa
- Showed plots of birefringence gradients of Arwen. Similar in size to what was measured previously.
- New Pockels cells are due to arrive soon.
- Next things to do in laser room: measure the steering,
study IA cell, work on imaging, characterize new cells.
- For various reasons, work in laser room has fallen behind schedule,
but it seems most problems impeding progress have now been resolved.
- Source configuration plan is another high priority.
-
Ryan
- Working on charge asymmetries from GDH run
- Doing calculations concerning things of interest with
the source
-
Hachemi
- Finished building one of the Target Lumi.
- Still analyzing Lumi Data.
- Working on Compton with David.
-
Bryan
-
Riad
-
General Issues
- Thinking about rewriting PANAM for a simpler and more stable
interface
- Bob, Bryan, Hachemi, and Kent will discuss this.
- Getting Rich involved would be difficult, as he doesn't
have a DAQ handy for testing.
- Sieve running is clearly necessary for HAPPEX. Pointing measurement
requires small holes to define kinematics and, most importantly, there is no
extended target optics data since the GDH run.
