Notes from Local Meeting Sept. 24, 2003
In attendance: Bob Michaels, Bryan Moffit, Kent Paschke, Tim Holmstrom, Lisa Kaufman, Ryan Snyder, David Armstrong, Eugene Chudakov, and Sirish Nanda.
General Updates
- Accelerator will be down for 1-2 months because the power outage due to Hurricane Isabel caused the He to boil off and the superconducting cavities to warm up.
- HAPPEX is still being considered for April (actually later due to accel. delay) if G0/Hypernuclear run at the same time. This will be Hydrogen running and possibly some He.
- SAMPLE has new result consistent with theory to give more accurate measurement of magnetic moment of the strangeness of the proton.
Individual Updates
-
Bryan
- Working on superGUI
- Working with readout of HAPPEX detector PMTs by ADCs
Kent
- New student from Syracuse is coming. He will probably work on Lumi, panam, and polarimetry
- Reported on results of Septum heating test. Further testing needs to be done, but HAPPEX runs the risk of running very close to the septum quench point.
- Cooling for septum is being improved by clamping copper to bore tube.
- Will work on GEANT septum heating simulation with Eugene's help
-
Lisa
- Tried to characterize TX cell from Cleveland Crystals but realized that the switch we have in the laser room won't work with this cell. Will resume work when we have a bipolar switch available.
- Began to align new Lasermetrics cell for characterization study.
-
Ryan
- Working in the laser room
- Getting ready to start analyzing saGDH data for AQ and position difference values.
-
David
- Working on/will work on radiation budget issue for HAPPEx-He
-
Eugene
- Working on geometry for GEANT septum heating simulation.
Lisa Kaufman
