Notes from Local Meeting on March 25, 2004

• General Notes

  • Optics Targets
  • 9 foil was installed, will remove 2 of them.
  • Want a setup where we have 3 foils (+/-5cm, and 0)
  • Also need aluminum foils at +/- 10cm. May need to modify their thickness to better approximate the production targets.
  • Surveying (of target, septum, BPMs/Harps)
  • Needed to double check pointing measurement. Will probably need to be requested, if not already.
  • Left Septum may need to be re-surveyed, since it was moved to be repaired.
  • Some investigation needs to be done regarding the location of the septum bore in space.
  • Acceptance defining collimators
  • Some discussion needs to be done with Paul Souder. Will probably end up having wide collimation to prevent loss of rate.
  • Detector Supports
  • Have been redesigned.
  • To install, must remove S1, A1 and A2 on Left Arm.
  • Summer Students
  • Two will arrive from UMass... and are looking for a place to stay. Contact Kent.

• Lumi Status (Bob, Hachemi, Riad)

  • Finished the fabrication of the two Target Lumi. Still need to check the planned positions to make sure they're in the line of sight of the target, and avoid the collimators. The stands are being constructed in the Machine Shop.
  • BLumi3 is still showing some unstable pedestals. Still investigating.
  • Should probably reconnect the current battery close to the BLumi, if possible.

• Laser Room Studies (Lisa)

  • Working on setup to minimize steering in the Arwen Cell by finding its geometric center.
  • Scans to be done to find this center using position translators. A software utility has been written in order to take care of this quickly. So far, it's setup for the laser room DAQ.. and should be easy to integrate into the HAPPEX DAQ.

• GDH Analysis (Ryan)

  • Lots of plots have been made. Almost done.

• Imaging Studies (Ryan)

  • Investigating it's feasability. There may be a problem in finding the right types of lenses (quite limitted by the amount of space available on the laser table).
  • Needs to be prototyped.

• DAQ Status (Bryan)

  • Two ADCs (from UMass) have been recovered. Need to determine where we need them, and what gains to give them.
  • Working on turning the onlineGUI into an online Monitor
  • Will be the expert of the software implementation of HC Position/Intensity Feedback.

• General Source (Kent)

  • Need to study the IA System before it's reinstalled in mid-April (for Hypernuclei). There is some question on whether we should use the IA System, or just use PITA Feedback.
  • Accelerator group is anxious to use the new SuperLattice Cathode. Need to prototype the laser table setup in the laser room in order to check the effect of the extra reflections need to get to Gun 3. Not anticipating large sensitivities.
  • Phase Trombone: some discussion with accelerator group this week. Some design work may need to be done to constrain the beam phase space by using more quads. Software design may start this week, and we should have it available by mid-April.
