Notes from Meeting Jan 30, 2009
In Attendence: Kent Paschke, Mark Dalton, Gregg Franklin, Diana Parno, Bob Michaels, Dustin McNulty, Abdurahim Rakham Luis Mercado, Alexandre Camsonne, Bryan Moffit
Compton
- Discussed Diana's latest HIGS results (see HAPLOG)
- Trying to simulate Higgs energy calibration, the sharp drop-off at larger energies is a mystery.
- Gregg: we must be able to simulate or we don't know the system.
- Mark: suggested folding in a Gaussian with the Monte Carlo. (Maybe the beam energy fluctuated more than expected ?)
- Will also remove background and plot mean energy
- Abdurahim : Designing a standalone doubling unit. Need compact design to fit on rail.
- Trying to buy fiber-coupled version of Promethesius laser, use IR output as a seed laser.
- Cleaning mirrors is problematic. Used a professional centrifuge, but still see residuals under microscope. Might be impure solvent.
- Alex: Problems with ADC for slow controls, traced to interferece betwen boards. Separatign the boards, will see if this helps.
- Readout buffer is truncated. May be a hard-coded parameter (like a memory limit) somewhere in the code. Consulting with Damien Neyret.
Target
- Will go for 3 cells, 2 are 25 cm long, 1 old 20 cm long. The boiling is known for the 20 cm, making it a safe option.
- Not clear if the 20 cm is the one from hydrogen (thin window). Will check.
Beam modulation
- Jay Benesh provided a note, it was posted in the HAPLOG.
PREX Collimator design.
- Bob: first pass at designing a collimator to put into Q1.
- Will define the acceptance, and provide a trick to measure A_T (credit: Paul Souder).
- Details in HAPLOG, the study is on-going.
