keyword=Target field survey
A survey of the target field direction was done during the day on 7/9.
The field direction was measured with the compass with various settings of the
target holding field and the gradient coils (NOTE: the nominal field angle
is 52.5 deg):
Target Gradient Coils Survey
holding field T (A) L(A) Angle
------------------------------------------
0 deg 0 0 52.46673
5 -2 52.49800
6 0 52.48270
0 -7 52.45839
180 deg 0 -7 52.06922
6 0 52.04972 (Repeat 52.06484)
5 -2 52.04383
0 0 52.06852
This field direction is almost 0.5 deg off of nominal, so we tried to adjust it several
times:
180 deg 0 0 52.20560
0 0 52.22662
0 0 52.19392
0 0 52.19274
0 0 52.16796
0 0 53.01407
0 0 52.84694
0 0 52.47173
Satisfied, we went on to 270 deg:
270 0 0 52.24911
5 -2 52.24439
6 0 52.24017
0 -7 52.25362
90 0 -7 52.24640
6 0 52.24168
5 -2 52.25493
0 0 52.24182
Then we tried to do some repeatability measurements:
270 0 0 51.93250
0 0 52.32209 (tapped compass)
0 0 0 52.19868
0 0 52.26595 (tapped compass)
For the exact transverse and longitudinal current, see the target logbook page
