    keyword=Left Dipole NMR

    On coming on shift I observed that the NMR signal for the left dipole was very weak (less than 100 mV) and not sharp. Upon investigation I discovered that the compensating coil voltage was way off (2.6 volts instead of 6). Resetting the compensating coil voltage to 6 volts greatly improved the quality of the signal. (3x as large and much sharper). The measured field also got larger. (2.27 GeV/c went to 2.2703) The regulator appears to not be working. I've adjusted the magnet manually aand now all appears OK. At this point I don't know how long things were like this.
