    This morning firefox did not work on ADAQ. The observation was:

    1. firefox invites you to use a profile -- mostly they are already
    used (you can delete the ".parentlock" file to clear it or create
    a new profile). There are a ton of profiles, see (*) below.

    2. If you create a new profile like everyone is tempted to do, it
    suffers a "network timeout". As Jin Huang reminded me, the
    workaround is:
    a) Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Settings
    b) Select "No proxy" instead of "Use system proxy".
    This at least gets you on the net.

    (*) As a more permanent solution I did this:

    I noticed that the profiles.ini file had become "corrupted", it
    was full of profiles that did not have the string "AdaqUser" in it,
    which I think broke Brad's script. I purified this file so that
    only existing "AdaqUser" profiles were in it, and I made sure the
    lock file was deleted (in most cases there was no lock file).

    This fixed firefox on ADAQ. For the time being ! Perhaps we should
    delete all those rogue profiles.
