    keyword=power outage in CC

    Due to a traffic accident on Jefferson Ave wiping out a power transformer, power in
    the main computer center went off at around 9:45am. The counting houses and accelerator were largely unaffected, except that we lost NFS file transfers to Cebaf Center.

    When we tried to stop run 20482, for example, CODA hung when it tried to put
    the run summary screen up on the terminal. We lost about 40 minutes of acquisition
    on the electron spectrometer because of this.

    Therefore, we did not dare stop the acquisition on the hadron arm run 3151, which
    continued on during the power outage. The datafile split, so the scalers certainly
    overflowed. But this is recoverable in software afterwards, so this is preferable to
    having the hadron coda hung too.

    We also temporarily lost the HAC diagnostics for the spectrometers during this time,
    such as cryogenics readout control.

    In the longer run, it would be better if references to externally mounted NFS files could be purged from the acquisition, so that it can run completely independently.
    Nonetheless, we are very thankful that things were not much worse.
