keyword=Hall activities after lost Tilghman
Tilghman ruptured this afternoon around 2:30 pm. Experiment E99-117 (A1n) ended and started the switch-over to E97-103 (g2n). With RADCON corverage,
we went into hall, turned off Helium flow for the cooling jet and opened the chamber
to inspect. Seems the pumping cell was ruptured inside the oven. The oven side
window was broken. There is one large piece (~10 cm) of target cell (with end
window). The reference cell is still good (holding pressure). Two pieces of 12C
falled out and one piece was broken and two pieces remain intact.
After inspect the target, turned off the heaters and then air flow for the oven.
RADCON cleaned the scattering chamber. Had a RWP.
Kevin and I removed the target ladder and the reference cell. Installed an 25 cm water
cell. To get ready for water calibration. Ed turned off AC, air compressor etc. I turned off AC and air flow filter and blower in the laser hut.
Kevin is doing a Q-curve and then will adjust the coil to get a good signal and start
water calibration.
