    keyword=Shift Summary

    Thursday 15th November
    Shift: OWL 00:00-08:00
    Shift Workers: Peter Monaghan, Pierre Moussiegt

    (1) Run # 2157 in progress as this shift begins.

    (2) 01:25 CODA crashed during run #2158 - not connecting properly to ROC14; first attempt to reset was not successful. We reset the VME crate for ROC14 and then rebooted CODA. 01:40 The CODA now appears to be working properly again.

    (3) 01:30 MCC called to say that they are having problems with a cavity and the beam would be down for a few minutes while they tried to fix it. 01:57 MCC called again to say they had fixed the problem and were ready to deliver the desired beam current again.

    (4) 04:25 CODA crashed again during run #2160 - again we were unable to end the run properly; we had to reboot the CODA and reset the VME crate for ROC14 again and we lost the data for #2160. 04:30 CODA rebooted and run #2161 started.

    (5) 05:40 CODA crashed again on run #2161 - after about 1.3 million events. We rebooted the CODA as before. Upon starting run #2162 the CODA immediately crashed again! We rebooted and are ready to start another run (at 05:55) - we will take only 1 million events to try and complete a run because previous runs have crashed at about 1.3 million events.

    (6) 05:56 MCC called to say they were having problems with a high voltage supply and the beam would be off for a few minutes. We also noticed all the lights in the counting house briefly flicker, before MCC called. Beam restored to 100 microamps at 06:20.

    (7) 06:20 MCC doing a QE measurement before we start the next run so that it will not be interrupted later. QE measurement completed and run #2163 started at 06:34.

    (8) 07:24 Run #2163 ended successfully with 1.02 million events. The number of events has been increased again to 1.45 million for the subsequent runs.

    (9) 07:44 MCC are having software problems with their ROC and so the beam will be off until they can fix it; run # 2164 had just started so we have let it continue.

    (10) Shift ends with run # 2164 still running but with no beam and we are waiting for an update from MCC about when they might have restored the beam.
