    keyword=End-of-Run Charge Asymmetry

    Around 21:30 JP called in and mentioned that the end-of-run file charge asymmetry for runs 20855/1853 and 20856/1854 was high near 100 ppm for the first set and 200 ppm for the second set. However the Parity feedback control has been reporting small charge asymmetries.

    I talked to Bryan Moffit, and he said that the Parity Feedback is stable. He believes the difference between Parity and the spectrometers comes from a new pedestal that is being used for Parity. He also noted that the spectrometer charge asymmetry is averaged over the run, whereas parity gives a feedback every two mintues. Also frequent beam trips can lead to a large charge asymmetry. Since those runs, the charge asymmetry from the end-of-run file has been around 40 or 60 ppm.

    If an end-of-run should report > 500 ppm, the Parity on call should be paged (Bryan for Owl shift).

    I will look at the charge asymmetry from the Parity analysis to check the charge asymmetry from the runs mentioned above.
