Maintenance work:
Yesterday Ed and his people warmed up the nitrogen cooling. (Mark Stevens checked
that ice in the sieve box was not in the acceptance). Septum is moved to 9 degree and
HRS_r moved to 18 degree. Ed moved the sieve slits to 9 degree and also the collimators around the sieve slits.
Late afternoon, Vince and I removed the polarized He3 target with the target ladder.
We inspected the target and the target area. The target cell started to change color. The pumping cell is still mostly transparent. 12C foil mounts were fine (no beam hitting mark). There was a little beam hit mark on the left pick-up coil (probably
caused by beam tuning in Empty target position).
We noticed the sieve slits were mounted incorrectly. Notified Ed this morning and he corrected it.
Vince mounted a water cell and did a water calibration overnight.
This morning Vince took out the water cell. Turned off target field.
We re-installed the polarized He3 target and ladder. Target has been heated to 170 C, and is ready for survey.
