    keyword=EPR function generator

    At about 1415 on 08/22, the field was rotated to 270. During the rotation, the TO is prompted to check that the 'Standby' light on the Latch FG is OFF. Unfortunately, right next to the Latch FG (function generator) is an indentical looking FG that is used for EPR.

    When I came into to check on things @ around 1430, the TO told me that she had turned OFF the 'Standby' light as per the Target Rotation instructions. At the time, I thought nothing of it. Now, I think that it's possible that the wrong FG was taken out of 'Standby' mode.

    The sequence of buttons to press stated in the Target Operator Procedures that take these particular FGs out of 'Standby' is "LCL", "2nd", & "Standby." If the FG is already in local mode and on 'Standby,' then this sequence of key button presses will reset the FG to it's default factory settings & turn on the output. This could explain why the EPR FG was reading 1KHz in freq and the output was ON when JP looked at after leaving the hall. The last time anyone used/looked at EPR was when Vince was trying to boost the D2 signal. It is certain that this would leave the FG in 'local' mode.

    Now as for whether this could cause a loss of pol? The magic 8 says "Reply Hazy."
