    keyword=MCC visit: sending tune beam

    @ 0426, MCC called. They are planning to sending tune beam.

    @ 0437, Ken drops by again. They have got the separation configured. The issue now is that the new amplifier needs some time to warm-up. This typically takes 3-4 hours based on historical precedent. A possible consequence is that the beam position in the linac might drift by as much as a few mm. If this happens, then the beam might scrape against the beam pipe and cause a trip. We'll just have to wait and see to find out how frequently this will occur. Because of our fast feedback, the beam position on target should be stable regardless of the drifts due to amplifier warm-up.

    The plan is:
    (1) MCC sends tune beam and do their thing.
    (2) We'll then do aspect ratio/HARP scans + raster spot size checks.
    (3) We'll monitor beam position + "quality" for a little while before moving the Pol 3He target into the beam.

    We're basically at the point of no return. If we have a target rupture, then it will probably take too long to recover from. Thus, I plan on playing it safe.
