keyword=Bad energy spread!
Energy spread measurement was started about 19:00.
News from Arne isn't good. The energy spread looked very poor,
with an RMS width at 1C12 of .5mm (9e-5), but very non-gaussian,
with a long tail.
This means that runs 2558, 2559 and 2560 have a large energy width,
approximately 3 times over spec. (Run 2561-62 also, but those are optics runs.)
Ops worked to improve this number, but they were hamstrung by
the energy measurement software tool being unavailable due
to some computer trouble (disk mount points and such). When the
tool was finally made to work, the results of all their labor was
discouraging: width = 6e-5.
Experts have been called in. In the meantime, we are going back to
Doug's optics runs.
