    keyword=DAQ problems -- 192 switch

    ROCs 12 and 16 crashed. Rebooting said the ROCs could not get the files wanted (ROC 12) or did not know anything about addresses it should get them from (ROC 16 had all "0" for the information).

    We first got an access to the left specrometer to power cycle the ethernet switch that was up there. That moved ROC16 further along the boot path, but both ROCs still could not find the files on the network.

    We got a second access, and following the instructions on Bob Michaels' webpage ( http://hallaweb.jlab.org/equipment/daq/guide2.html ) we found the 192.2 switch in the third (not second as web page says) rack. The switch was not labelled (as the web page promised us it would be -- we were somewhat crestfallen but more anxious to figure out the right switch) but judging from the labels on the ethernet cables going in, we correctly chose the top switch in that third rack and rebooted by pulling the plug from the back and then plugging back in.

    This seems to have worked.
