    keyword=Septum Quench test plot

     Below is a plot of the septum quench tests done June 21.

      Notes:
       - 20 cm Helium cell, with density 0.126 gm/cm3
          (which is 10% lower than the nominal value
            of 0.140gm/cm3 used in the proposal)
       - the data table in halog entry 126621 had the temperatures for
         the 33.5 µA point for the right septum incorrectly entered;
         the plot here has the correct values (transcription error from
         my notes)
       - both septa quench when the maxmimum temp on one of the coil
          temperatures reaches between 7.7 and 7.8 K.
       - the quench point seems very reproducible: the right arm quenched
         at the same temperature and currents as it did for the test
         of June 12, and the temp. vs. beam plots agree nicely with the
         initial tests from halog entry 125364.
       - if the right septum could be made to behave as well as does
         the left septum then we could have run at just under 55
         µA.
