Dithering-slope Test Plan: Thursday, July 1, 2004
Updated: July 1, 17:15pm by Rob Feuerbach, Run Coordinator (pager 584-5411)
Purpose:
We want to measure the correlation between the (momentum, position, angle, beam energy) and response of the HAPPEX detectors, especially since the different segments might have different slopes. This test will move the elastic stripe on the detectors by roughly 2.4cm in X and Y independently.
Program
- Start with the standard production configuration.
- Inform Halls A and C that we will be modulating the beam energy 50% of the time.
- For each momentum/current setting in the table below (please do in order), do:
- Double Check the settings are correct and the Start-of-Run record is updated.
- Take a profile scan (less than 1min tripped off).
- Turn dithering ON (high freq. mode)
- Take a 10minute HAPPEX run: less than 1min tripped off.
- Dithering OFF.
- Return to normal production settings.

Note: Septum settings
The current given above is the Readback value (seen on the Hall A Tools page); the Set-points may be slightly different.
- For the Left Septum, a SetPoint=275.50 gives a Readback=275.25A.
- For the Right Septum, SetPoint=275.35 gives a Readback=274.25A.
For each run
General Tasks:
- HALOG any detector, DAQ trip and unusual observation when
they happen.
- Do shift checklist.
- Twice a shift HALOG control screens and septum & energy
spread strip charts.
- Any problem that prevents data taking and that you cannot solve
within 30 min page the Run-Coordinator.
- During night and weekend shifts contact the Run-Coordinator before the Tech on-call. Any problems that are not emergencies, please make a HALOG entry with "TECH" in the keyword.
Please log below (and in the HALOG) any unusual observations and
problems solved
