Proposed Plan for Oversampling Runs.
These runs to be performed by Kent Paschke and/or Bryan Moffit.
Goal: To determine the sub-structure of charge asymmetry, position
differences, detector and luminosity monitor asymmetries within
helicity windows. We should also be able to measure the extent of
60Hz noise cancellation.
Plan and Details:
1. Determine the x/y gain settings of iocse8 and iocse10.
At production current (I=37), write down the X and Y gains (as
well as their gain bit settings).
2. Notify MCC to put iocse8 and iocse10 into "Forced Gain" operation
and set those approximate gains noted in step 1.
3. In GreenMonster GUI, turn off beam modulation.
4. Turn off panguin and feedback.
5. Set each crate's timing board to these settings:
Ramp Delay = 0
Integrate Time = 900
Oversample = 12
6. Set all ADCs for each crate to "Hi Gain".
7. Increase the HV for all Detectors by -100V (note settings before
changing). Do the same for the Lumi HVs.
8. Start a CODA run (event limit may need adjustment).
Run type: "other"
Comments: "Oversampling Run. Oversample=13. Current Scan."
9. Take approximately 2 minutes of data at each current setting:
I=20,25,30,35,37.
Write down the approximate beam current noted on the HallA BCM
GUI, for each setpoint. A good run should consist of no beam
trips, but we'll take what we can get.
10. End the CODA run.
11. Ask MCC to return iocse8 and iocse10 to "Auto Gain" operation.
12. In GreenMonster GUI, turn on Beam Modulation.
Decrease the amount of time between supercycles.
13. At production current (I=37), Start another CODA run.
Run type: "other"
Comments: "Oversampling Run. Oversample=13."
This run should have approximately 15 minutes of beam (event
limit may require adjustment)... enough to have 3-4 modulation
supercycles.
14. End the CODA run.
15. Return the amount of time between supercycles to it's normal duty
cycle.
16. In the greenmonster GUI, return all ADCs back to "Lo Gain". All
Crate timing boards to these settings:
Ramp Delay = 0
Integrate Time = 13000
Oversample = 0
17. Turn on panguin and feedback.
18. Resume normal production running.
