    Entry number 157678

    keyword=Scanner status

    The hall was in controlled access this morning, so I went down to look at
    the scanner setup. I power cycled the National Instruments controller
    module, and the "Hardware Failure" error went away. We were able to
    reset the the device, but we still get the "Modal Error Message." When
    trying to initialize the device or run a LabView VI, we get the error
    message that there is corrupt microprocessor firmware. After getting
    this message, I tried to update the firmware to no avail. I contacted
    Jason, and he will try to get some information from NI. With no success
    updating the firmware, I went back down to the hall, and tried cycling
    the power to the encoders and the controller box, but that didn't work
    either - same error message again

    The error message and status screen are shown below. I'm afraid that we
    might not have working scanners for the rest of the run if there is a
    real problem with the controller box because we don't have another box.
