----------------------------------------------------------------
Highlights:
16:00 - 17:45 -> Production running.
17:45 - 18:00 -> PZT scan by MCC
18:00 - 24:00 -> Production running
The Run Plan:
1. Production Running
2. PZT Scan by MCC at some point.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The Run Down
16:00 - Shift starts off in production mode with both arms, and with the Compton running as well. The cryogen levels for the magnets are somewhat unstable though, so Brad is investigating, and I am helping. (See halog entry
16:34 - Sirish stops the Compton DAQ in run 12506 to train people in the use of the Compton DAQ.
16:41 - Mark Stevens stops by to chat about the cryo situation. The cryo group says that we have increased our load on the refrigerator, which is causing these instabilities.
17:42 - MCC calls. At the next beam trip, they will do their PZT scan, which will take about 20 minutes. When the trip comes, we will stop this run.
17:45 - The trip happens, and so we ended run 5888. MCC starts their PZT scan.
17:58 - MCC calls. They will be sending us our beam again in a minute!
18:13 - Compton training is finished; I have the Compton DAQ to myself again, so I have started a run (12510).
20:14 - MCC calls. They had a zone go down, so we won't have beam for 5 or 10 minutes while they fix stuff.
20:21 - MCC calls. They are sending us beam again!
21:01 - I stopped a Compton run and started a new one and it did not crash!! This is a first for me! Yay!!
22:25 - Yet another Compton run successfully stopped and started without crashing. Wow.
23:09 - The right septum is warming up quite a bit rather suddenly, and we have not had a beam trip in a while (in almost 20 minutes!), so I call MCC and request that they lower our beam current to 55 muA for a few minutes to let it cool a bit.
23:14 - Beam trips, septum cools a bit more, back to 58 muA for now.
23:56 - The right septum is warming up quite a bit rather suddenly, so I call MCC and request that they lower our beam current to 55 muA for a few minutes to let it cool a bit.
24:00 - Shift ends, running at 55 muA to cool the right septum magnet a bit.
------------------------------------------------------------
Note for shift leaders: Remember to log the magnet screens if any of the magnets trip!!
