    Followups:

    keyword=Target work performed today.

During the pass change this morning, Ameya and I performed a number of
tests and measurements. In addition, sheilding was added to the inside
    of the target magnet box.

When we lost the beam, I took an NMR-EPR calibration. Immediately
following, I turned off all lasers, and turned the oven off. When the
oven reached room temperature, I took a number of NMR measurements.
These measurements will help up to evaluate the polarization of the cell
    at nominal running temperature.

After a RadCon survey, Ameya made precise measurements of the location of
the pick-up coils. These are used to calculate the flux and make more
    sense of our NMR signals.

During this time, Bogdan asked if I could put some sheilding into the
target magnet box to cut down on the background from low energy
particles. A sketch of the setup, as well as photgraphs are attached to
this entry. The sheilding is made of 4 pieces of wood (2"x4"), and
attached to the RF coils. An unfortunate side-effect of adding this
shielding is that it blocks the target ladder camera.

Once this work was completed, we closed up the target, began heating up
the target oven, and when we had reached the appropriate minumum
temperature, turned on the lasers. We are now polarizing the cell and
waiting for the completion of a number of tests before taking a
polarization measurement and putting the cell back into the beam.
