I again initiated the James Proffitt flying reset procedure and the
Dynapower Octagon immediately responded. Part of that procedure is to
load a fresh version of the running code from memory, and then modify it
so that it will only ramp down. In principle, we may be able to develop
another procedure to load and run a fresh (uncorrupted) program, but one
that allows the Dynapower to stay at the previously set current, and
being uncorrupted it should then respond to commands. If we plug a
serial port server into the RS-485 line to the Dynapower, we should be
able to accomplish this without a controlled access. This would save the
ramp down and ramp up time penalties we incur with the current procedure.
