One can see the effect when the beam is increased and the background ates stays low, at some point background jumps when slits get opened and lowring the current does not change the background if this is done with the open slits lowering laser power. We can see the fall of the background when the slit were closed again. So now we have a good tune with at least 1 to 1 signal over background ratio.
So the test with closing the slits should be the first one we do when looking at the Compton background next time.
